Rajma Masala


  • kidney beans 2 cup
  • Onions 3
  • Ginger 12; inch
  • Coriander seed 1 tablespoon
  • Green chili pepper 1 tablespoon
  • Red chili 4 tablespoon
  • Cumin seed tablespoon
  • Turmeric powder 1/8 teaspoon
  • Black pepper 10
  • Cinnamon sticks 2 small
  • Dried mango powder 1 tablespoon
  • Salt
  • Water 3 cups
  • Ghee 3 tablespoons
  • Coriander leaves 1 cup


  • Wash the kidney beans and soak for 7/8 hours
  • Cook the kidney beans in pressure cooker for 4 whistles on medium flame
  • Then take ½ cup cooked kidney beans and crush coarsely
  • Grind 1 onion, ginger, coriander seeds, chili peppers, cumin, cinnamon to a very fine paste
  • Chop remaining 2 onions very finely
  • Now take a non stick pan and add ghee to it add chopped onions and saut until golden brown
  • Add ground paste and sauté, sprinkle water occasionally, until the ghee starts separating from the paste.
  • Now add cooked kidney beans, salt and dried mango powder to the curry and mix properly
  • Now add 3 cups of water and crushed kidney beans and mix well
  • Boil it for appx. 10 minutes and sprinkle coriander leaves on the top
  • Serve hot with steamed rice or chappatis
