India Pulses and Grains Association & India Myanmar Chamber of Commerce



India Pulses and Grains Association (IPGA) recently signed an MoU with the India Myanmar Chamber of Commerce (IMCC) to establish a framework for cooperation aimed at contributing to sustainable socio-economic development through increased competitiveness and trade, improved business environment, and to be used as a basis for the formulation and implementation of technical cooperation projects, specifically in the pulses sector.
IPGA and IMCC’s will aim to work together towards Increasing enterprise and sector competitiveness; Capacity building in trade intelligence, market analysis and research; Strengthening of trade support networks in India and Myanmar; Promoting trade and business linkages between India and Myanmar; and Improving the business environment and support to trade policy formulation.

As the first initiative towards achieving the objectives of the MoU, IPGA and IMCC have joined hands to host a webinar to present an overview of the pulses scenario in both, Myanmar and India. The webinar will be held on FRIDAY, JULY 9TH, 2021 FROM 2 PM TO 3 PM (IST) which will be 3 PM TO 4 PM (MMT). The webinar will cover the key pulses TUR, URAD and MOONG in the webinar and the speakers will be domain experts from Myanmar and India.

The Myanmar overview will cover aspects like Production, Available stock for export, Expected exports to India, effects of the political unrest as well as COVID on movement of stocks from farms to ports as well as shipping to India.
India, as we are aware, has allowed unrestricted imports of Tur, Urad and Moong from May 15th till October 31st with the mandate to ensure that all these shipments reach Indian Ports latest by November 30th, 2021. Given the change in Import Policy, the speakers from India will cover aspects like India’s production, demand – supply gap, expected import quantities, etc. in the course of the webinar.
