Madhya Pradesh-like scheme for tur, gram to cost Maharashtra Rs 250 crore

MUMBAI: The state government will require Rs 250 crore to implement a cabinet decision to give Rs 1,000 per quintal subsidy to tur and gram farmers whose produce it could not buy.

Similar to the Bhavantar Bhugtan scheme implemented in Madhya Pradesh, the price differential subsidy makes up for the difference between the lower, market rate and higher, government rate.
